I always begin with a space’s envelope. Here’s what the living room looked like before we got started.

To return the space to it’s original rigorous design, I ripped out the crown molding and replaced it with flat molding. And then to maintain the “indoor-outdoor” synthesis Bunshaft was going for with the 40-foot expanse of south-facing windows, I used minimal shades on the windows.
