This copper and enamel bookshelf by Korean artisan Kwangho Lee is really spectacular. The impact of the blue enamel against the copper makes such a bold statement–bringing a modern flair to an industrial-inspired piece. Lee works with his hands only–rather than fabricating objects commercially–which makes his objects really personal and unique.

May 5th, 2011 is this year’s annual celebration of Housing Works’ Design on a Dime. Currently in its seventh year of production, the event shows spaces decorated by more than fifty designers; from up-and-coming professionals to trade masters. Progress of the Master bedroom….

To return the space to it’s original rigorous design, I ripped out the crown molding and replaced it with flat molding. And then to maintain the “indoor-outdoor” synthesis Bunshaft was going for with the 40-foot expanse of south-facing windows, I used minimal shades on the windows.

Last week, we finished an apartment in the Manhattan House (http://www.manhattanhouse.com/) ,a modernist landmark on the Upper East Side.
It’s a 1950s Gordon Bunshaft-designed building, so the interior had to reflect the ethos of the architect, whose work (including his best-known building, Lever House) is heavily based on the theories of Mies Van der Rohe and Corbusier.
